About

The Corpus Christi Swim Team is a great way for children to learn all four strokes and become strong swimmers while participating in a team environment where they can employ healthy and enjoyable competition to promote the sharing of Catholic values among athletes, parents, and coaches.  Our program is a combination of instructional and competitive.

  • Our team participates in the Catholic Youth Swim League (CYSL) which includes 15 parishes in Bucks, Montgomery and NE Philly.  The CYSL has over 1,100 swimmers and has existed for over 40 years.  For more info see   https://catholicyouthswimleague.com/
  • The season runs from October through early March.
  • Children are eligible to participate in grades K through 9/10 grade, depending on their birthdate, from Corpus Christi, St. Stanislaus, St. Rose of Lima and St. Maria Goretti parishes and Mater Dei and Corpus Christi schools.  Swimmers at other parishes can inquire about eligibility to swim in the CYSL.  Swimmers in their last year of eligibility are considered graduates and honored at the end of the year. Children in 1/8 grade must be enrolled in REC or attend a Catholic school.
  • Practices are held at the Lansdale YMCA on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7-8:45pm.  Practice assignments will be based on age and skill level with the earlier practice at 7-7:45pm and the later practice at 7:30-8:45pm.  A program membership (~$50) is required if you don’t have a membership at the YMCA.
  • There is typically a time trial, 6 dual meets, and an individual Championship meet (includes relays).  All meets are held on Saturday or Sunday.  Meets are held at the Lansdale YMCA, Abington HS, Bensalem HS, NEPSCA (across from Archbishop Ryan HS) and other area pools.  The CYSL Individual Championship Meet is typically held at Upper Dublin High School.
  • Age Groups: 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, 15U.  6U swims with 8U during dual meets but is its own age group in the individual Championship meet.
  • All 4 strokes (Freestyle, Breast, Butterfly and Back) are taught and all levels of swimmers are welcome.     For all new swimmers, there will be a swim evaluation (one lap of the pool) that is required for you to be on the team.  For any questions on a swimmers background, the swim evaluation, the instruction, or competitiveness of the team please contact Jason Martin, Head Coach (puwante@yahoo.com).
  • New swimmers will have to complete a swim evaluation before they are officially on the team.  The basic requirement is to swim one lap in the pool without holding onto the sides.
  • Swim meets require many volunteers, so each family is required to have a parent volunteer to work 4 meets.  Meet volunteer signups will be available in October once the meet schedule is set.  All meet volunteers must have their safe environment clearances current.  We ask that families start working on their safe environment clearances, especially the classes, as soon as they sign up to avoid any issues during the season.  Please reach out to us with any questions.
  • If you qualify for a max family discount for swim (registration fees over $400 for just swim), please contact Ann Marie Finley at atammara@yahoo.com for a partial refund.
  • For more information please contact Ed Murphy, Swim Coordinator (emurphy9547@gmail.com) or Jason Martin, Head Coach (puwante@yahoo.com).
